What We Do
NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) was created as a single commissioning organisation on 1 April, 2021 and is responsible for planning and buying health and care services from a range of providers for the people of Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.
It also has a duty to monitor these services to ensure they provide a high level of care and are value for money. It is a clinically-led organisation with 51 GP practices and provides healthcare services for patients registered with a local GP.
The CCG buys a wide range of services and these include GP and Primary Care services; from hospital care, community services to mental health services.
We have a Governing Body which meets in public each month and makes the important decisions for our organisation. Most of our Governing Body members are local doctors who continue to work in our communities, treating people. A part of their working week is dedicated to the CCG to help us develop our plans and services.
The CCG also has a team of dedicated and skilled managers that run the CCG on a day-to-day basis. Senior managers make up the remainder of the Governing Body. You can meet the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin CCG Board here.
Patients are at the heart of everything we do, and we actively encourage people living in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin to get involved and help to shape our plans. We are committed to providing opportunities for everyone to have their say, in the knowledge that everyone’s opinions will be listened to and conscientiously considered.
We also work with a network of other NHS organisations, NHS England, independent providers, the third sector, and neighbouring health organisations for cross border patients.
