Opportunities
Throughout the year, the CCG are always looking for patients, carers and the public to get involved in particular projects. For those people who would like to volunteer for various roles, we are committed to providing relevant training and support you.
This may include an initial face-to-face, informal chat to listen to your interests and experiences so that we find the right involvement opportunity for you. Once you become a volunteer, we will accompany you to any meetings or workshops until you feel comfortable to attend on your own.
The CCG have a Volunteer Policy which includes how we will support you to undertake your role and how you can claim back any out of pocket expenses.
How to get involved
NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin CCG Communication and Engagement Strategy shows how we recognise the importance and value of patient and public engagement to develop and deliver services for our population. We want to ensure that we are actively listening to messages through our involvement and engagement with patients and the public.
As patients and members of the public there are a number of ways that YOU can get involved:
Reading Group
The CCG produce a number of public documents which are written in plain English and produced in appropriate formats for our community.
The Reading Group is key to checking these documents that will either be placed on our website or sent out to patients, carers and the public. The feedback they give has been invaluable in making sure that the documents are readable and easy to understand.
The group will be sending out a document(s) via email or post, and will be asked to read through and make their own comments. Following this, the group will be asked to meet to discuss their comments and to help finalise the document(s)
If this is a group you would be interested in volunteering for, then please contact the Communications and Engagement Team at: stwccg.communicationsteam@nhs.net.
Community Focus Groups
When there is a particular health subject where we would like to hear about your experiences or suggestions for improvement we will invite patients, carers and families to come along and take part in a discussion
Pop Up Stands
Throughout the year the CCG attend various events with a pop up stand and talk to patients, carers and families about the health services they receive.
Attendance at Individual Support Groups
The Communication and Engagement Team regularly receives invitations to go along and chat with members of support groups in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin. If you would like a member of the team to come along and talk to you or listen to your views on a particular subject, please contact us on stwccg.communicationsteam@nhs.net
