“Go to” Sue recognised with Star of the Month Award

3 February 2022

“Unsung hero” Sue Beddall has been named as the latest winner of the Star of the Month Award at NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

Sue works as a receptionist at the CCG’s headquarters in Telford, alongside supporting various teams with administrative duties.

Sue was nominated by four colleagues for her friendly, kind and caring manner and for being the “go to person” when support is needed with admin tasks.

One of the nominators was previous award winner, Angie Porter, who works in the CCG’s Patient Services Team. She said: “Sue has an incredible no problem attitude that makes her very approachable. She recently started helping the Patient Services Team with some of the admin functions, picking up the systems really quickly and making a huge difference to the team.

“She’s also been supporting the Vaccination Programme, which really sums up her flexible approach, adaptability and can-do attitude perfectly.”

The Star of the Month Award was presented by Mark Brandreth, Interim Accountable Officer at the CCG, who launched the monthly prize last year as a way of recognising staff for their hard work.

Announcing the month’s winner, Mark said: “Every good team needs a Sue – someone who can turn their hand to anything and deliver excellent results time after time.

“We are very lucky to have Sue working with us, and the testimonies from her colleagues show how valued she really is. She is a worthy winner of our Star of the Month Award and it was a pleasure to be able to present it to her.”

The award was presented at the CCG’s weekly staff “huddle” – a short weekly meeting held virtually, where all staff are briefed on key developments and given the chance to ask questions of their leadership team.

Sue said: “It was a pleasant surprise to be nominated for Star of the Month. To then find out I had won was the icing on the cake.

“It’s wonderful to be recognised by your colleagues for the job that you do, and I have received many lovely congratulatory messages from people across the CCG.”
